When I was pregnant with Nash the kids always talked about their baby brother that was in my tummy. When Mallory would talk about him I always wondered why she would talk about peanut butter too until one day I realized she was really saying baby brother not peanut butter. We used to love it so much we would always make her say it and for some reason it never got old to us - it was always good for a laugh. All you had to say was, "Mallory, who is in Mom's tummy?" and she would say it every time. The funny thing was is she didn't think she was saying it wrong and probably wondered why we always thought it was so funny because we made her say it A LOT! Thanks to Mallory he wasn't even born and he already had his first nickname. I just love how little toddlers talk and say things. You just don't ever really want them to grow up and learn to say it the right way sometimes. This is a video of her saying it just about a week before Nash was born. Tell me what you think...does it sound like peanut butter or baby brother?

Fun at the Pool!
We went to the pool for my summer work party at New Haven. The kids had a blast! Some of my sisters came along and a few of my friends whom also work at New Haven were there too. We were there pretty much ALL day!

Adorable Chubby Baby
I had to do a post of Nash to show that he is the most adorable little thing ever...even if he has a big belly button. For those of you who did not figure it out, my husband is the one who posted the last post of his hernia. Not my idea. Anyway, my friend Dani took these adorable pictures of him. She did a great job. I had to put this first picture because I thought it was really funny.
He is such a chunk but who doesn't love a chubby little baby!? Who wouldn't want to kiss those cheeks? Isn't this picture so cute! He already has many amazing options of cute little baby girls in our ward for future girlfriends.

Nash is 3 Months Old Today
I cannot believe how fast time flies. This little man is already 3 months (even though he looks much bigger than a 3 month old). Before I know it he isn't going to be a baby anymore and he will be little a toddler running around. I haven't even had a chance to go get his pictures taken again professionally. We are sooooo blessed to have such a good little baby. He is a pretty mellow little guy and is pretty content with most things. He is really smiling a lot these days and I am just waiting for him to give us a little laugh. He loves to play with his feet and hands and spits (not spit up...just spitting) and slobbers a lot. His shirt or my shirt on my shoulder are constantly soaked from his slobbering or spitting. He is such a cutie and we are so happy to have him in our family!!

More Seven Peaks Fun
Today we went to Seven Peaks again! I had not been with the kids yet so I thought it was time to finally go. We have had a pass for a few years now so we usually get a lot of swimming in for the summer. We went with my friend Kellye and her kids. I also brought my brother-in-law Spencer & my nephew Parker who also have passes. My brother Rich & his family were their as well. Also, Colten & Melissa came with some friends a little while later too. We had a great time and stayed most of the day. The kids I think could stay from open to close if I let them. Nash was really good and took about a 3 1/2 hour nap. He didn't complain one bit while we were there. He didn't mind the water...it didn't faze him one bit. Mallory just stayed by me & Kellye most of the time at the kid pool. The other kids hung out with Spencer going on the slides, wave pool & lazy river.
Monday Memories (February 27, 2008)
It is time again for Monday Memories. This is a longer post but it is for my journaling purpose only (& Stephanie's). I will probably win longest post award but I don't care because like I said I decided it would be great to set aside one day each week to post about things that would be valuable to record........for myself and for my children to read later.
In October of 2007 Brett went to the doctor for an irregular heartbeat problem that he had been having for a while (at least a few years as far as he can remember). The problem would usually manifest itself while playing basketball. Symptoms were an irregular heartbeat , shortness of breath, excessive perspiration, etc. He would keep playing anyway (he's not too bright), although unable to play as hard (or well) as normal. The symptoms would usually last for quite a few hours and would be gone by the next morning. He never really did anything much about it because it was fairly infrequent (once every month or two) and when he plays it is usually late at night and too late to see a doctor.
One day his mom was over on a Saturday afternoon when he had gotten home from playing basketball. He'd had one of his episodes and she saw how bad of shape he was in and wanted to take him t0 the emergency room right then. But it stopped soon after that so he did not want to go. She made him promise the next time it happened that he would go. So, not long after that, it happened again. It was about 11:00 PM when he got home and told me that it happened again and he was going to go to the emergency room. I thought he was talking about his ankle because he has a bad ankle and hurts it once in a while when playing basketball. I was asleep and not totally with it when he came home but told him to call his mom and make her go with him. I didn't want him going alone. Now thinking back on it I really wasn't such a great wife sending my husband alone to the emergency room telling him to call his parents to go with him. But you have to understand that this had been going on for a while and we never thought it to be a big deal because he comes home, showers and goes to bed and in the morning feels fine. I also had to work at 3:00 am that morning so I needed my sleep, plus the kids were all asleep in their beds and I didn't want to wake them.
Well at about 1:00 AM he called me and told me that they had figured out the problem was atrial fibrillation, a condition where the upper two chambers of the heart (the atria) stop beating normally and just quiver rapidly. In addition to the noticeable symptoms, the biggest risk with atrial fibrillation is a greatly increased chance of a blood clot (due to the lack of circulation in those two chambers), resulting in a stroke, heart attack, etc. They were going to give him some medicine that would get the heart back beating normally and he would need to stay for about 4 hours before he could leave. He told me that his dad would come to our house so that I could go to work at 3:00 AM and he would sleep on our couch to watch the kids. I asked him if he needed me there but he said it would be fine and I could go to work. Well, I laid in bed for an hour and a half trying to decide if I should call someone else to go work for me but never did. He said he would call me with the progress. Well, I was really worried so I called him several times through the night. He was hooked up to a heart monitor and said it was still not back to normal. At about 5:00 am (while I was at work) he called me to tell me that the medicine was not working so they were going to have to sedate him and use a defibrillator to shock his heart back to normal. As you can imagine at that point I was really worried and felt like the most horrible person ever knowing that my husband was in the emergency room about to get this done with no one by his side (his parents had gone home at this point due to the doctors saying everything should be okay with them having given him the medicine). I was in tears at this point and could not hold it in. I tried calling someone to come in but was not successful and had to wait until 7:00 AM when I got off of work. I talked with his nurse and she said he was doing fine and his heart had been regulated but that I would need to come pick him up because he was not allowed to drive home by himself. I can only imagine what they were thinking about me not being there by my husband's side.
They referred us to Dr. Wang, who is a cardiologist, and said we needed to get in to see him right away. He was the doctor that they were consulting with all night in the ER and he was the one who told them to proceed with shocking his heart. When we went to visit Dr. Wang he verified the diagnosis of atrial fibrillation. He said that it was a very rare condition for someone Brett's age – it is usually only found in senior citizens. He then ordered a cardiac MRI to get a good look at the heart's physical condition (one atrium slightly enlarged, but nothing too serious) and, based on that information, suggested a couple of possible treatments – daily medication to regulate the heart or a procedure called catheter ablation that could possibly fix the problem permanently (75-ish% success rate). The gist of the procedure is to send long, thin flexible tubes (catheters) into the heart through blood vessels (two in the neck and two in each side of the groin in Brett's case) and energy is sent through the catheters to basically cauterize (or burn) certain areas of the heart to block off the bad electrical pathways that can cause the fibrillation. We opted for the procedure, with medication in the meantime before the procedure could take place (end of February).
The procedure went well (according to Dr. Wang). Recovery time was just a week of laying on the couch and Brett was back to normal activity, including basketball. He had to take a prescription blood thinner for a while and have regular blood checks at the doctor's office, then the blood thinner was reduced to an aspirin a day. He hasn't had any problems since the procedure.
They had me feed him his dinner due to him having not eaten since the night before. I had to keep waking him up to feed him, he had no idea what was going on. He kept asking me the same questions over and over. He didn't believe some of the answers I was giving him either for some reason. He doesn't remember any of it either. He barely remembers me feeding him. It was kind of scary to see him acting this way but I knew he would be okay by morning. I felt a little bad leaving him at this stage but I knew he needed his rest.

The girls came to visit him after his surgery which took about 3 1/2 - 4 hours. He was totally out of it and did not even remember them visiting. They said it takes about 6 hours or so for the anesthesia to wear off. Whytli made him the sweetest little card at school that day for him and brought it. Mallory was really terrified and did not know what to think of her dad laying in bed there. Adelie wasn't quite sure what to think either. I just wonder what was going on in their heads.
I am so thankful that everything turned out the way it did. I do not know what I would do without Brett. He is such an amazing husband and father and we would not be able to function without him. He is such a big help and it made me realize how much I rely on him for everything. The kids and I love him so much and are very grateful for the way things worked out and know it is truly a blessing that it turned out okay.

Seven Peaks Fun!
Lacey decided to take the girls to Seven Peaks with a girl named Laura from New Haven. Lacey is her Values Coach. Spencer, Colten, Melissa and Gwyn came along too! They all had a good time! The kids love hanging out with their favorite aunt Lacey. Whytli was excited because she did a few new things there that she has never done....like the rope swing and lily pads! I guess I always forget to take them up there but now that she has discovered them I am sure she will not forget and will be doing it much more!

Fun at Lagoon!
Yesterday for Brett's annual summer work party we went to Lagoon. The kids always look forward to this every summer. We got 2 extra tickets and took Brett's mom and niece Gwyn. Everyone had a good time. Gwyn wasn't really in the mood to go on much though cause she missed her mom and dad who were out of town. It was pretty good weather and the nice thing about Lagoon is there is alot of shade. Nash was even a really good baby the whole day. We stayed until it closed that night and did not get home until midnight. We also did for our first time Lagoona Beach. I didn't get any pictures of us doing any of the bigger fun rides but we did do them all. The new Wicked ride was alot of fun! Brett, Whytli and I LOVE roller coasters....the bigger, the better! Whytli is a dare devil when it comes to rides and she is fearless for the most part and loves all of them. Adelie was barely by 1 inch too short for most of the bigger roller coaster rides but she could go on the bat ride which she loved! The tidlewave was Adelie & Mallory's favorite. Adelie felt bad every time we went to a ride that she could not go on. She kept asking me what age she had to be to go on the rides next time but I explained that the age wasn't the issue it was the height but she wasn't getting it. Next year maybe she can do more but we did plenty of kid rides as well.

First time to the pool this summer
Heart & Soul Dance Studio were the girls take dance at had a swimming party tonight for all their students. So we loaded up the kids and went. Since the weather hasn't been the greatest we have not been able to make it to the pool just yet this summer. The kids always enjoy going with their dad. They had a good time practicing all the stuff they learned at swim lessons the week before. Whytli isn't hesitant to do anything but Adelie always takes awhile before she warms up and is willing to do anything she has learned. She swam in the deep about 10 feet close to the end of swimming that night without anyone holding on to her. Jennifer, Kynli & Creed came too and had a great time. Jennifer decided to put Nash in for a little dip to see how he would like it. He hated it and cried and did not want her to hold him any longer.
Monday Memories (January 2008)
We finished our basement in January. It was a forever long going project that Brett started in September. It was Brett's first time doing any of this and I must say he did a really good job. Because our house is a 4-level split the basement that we finished only was approximately 500 sq. ft. which had a bedroom, a playroom, and storage room. The kids were so anxious to have themselves a new playroom that they were willing to help with anything when asked. We also got new carpet in our entire house so we had to tear out the old carpet to put in the new. We are so happy to have the basement finally done and the kids really enjoy their new playroom!
They were having a good time playing on the carpet. They thought it was pretty neat to have no carpet all over the house. I sure did not, it isn't any fun having your whole house torn apart.
The girls helping out by washing down the walls and baseboards before the carpet came. They were such good little helpers. I really appreciated them doing this and they had a good time doing it too.

Back Blogging
I am going to start back blogging. Every Monday I am going to have a post called "Monday Memories." I got this idea from my friend Chelsey who does "Thinking Back Thursdays." I decided it would be great to set aside one day each week to post about things that would be valuable to record........for myself and for my children to read later. But also one of the main reasons I thought to do this is because my sister Stephanie is our family historian. She calls every single one of us in the family around October or November of every year and wants to know what has gone on with our family for the year and then she types up our family history and gives us each a copy for Christmas. It is always such a pain to remember what we have done and she is very persistent (but we love her anyway, because it is always nice to have). She was really excited when most of us started doing a blog so that she could just go to our blogs and get the info there. So, I figured since I started my blog in April, I will back blog to the months of January-March of this year. I didn't want to do a bunch of posts so I will do it every Monday and then I will have everything for this year. I think once I am done posting for those months I will just keep going back to old pictures that I have on my computer and forever post my "Monday Memories," since I do not scrapbook and my pictures just always go right to my computer and do nothing more. Anyway, this is for you Stephanie.
Happy Father's Day!
I am so thankful for my wonderful husband and just want to tell him how much I love him! He is truly the best husband and father ever!! He is such a great help to me always when I need it and he never complains. I do not know what I would do without him. He is an amazing father too and his kids love him very much. He loves spending time and plays with his kids every chance he gets with them and he never misses a night of reading them their bedtime stories and tucking them in at night. Thanks for being so great! I could say so much more about him but I won't. I know he loves his family unconditionally and is truly an AMAZING, wonderful guy!
This is a picture of him with his girls sporting his new ties that they made for him in Primary. He wore them to church today for Father's Day.
The kids got him the Star Wars movies on DVD. We had only the old ones on VHS and no longer have a VCR so he could not watch them. He said about a month ago that he thought he was failing as a father because his children had not yet seen Star Wars. So that is why we chose to get him this present. He was very excited and of course they have already started watching the movies with him. They love watching movies with their dad, they call it their buddy movies because they are all buddies. It's really cute to watch them all cuddle up with their dad and sit and watch movies no matter whether they are interested in it or not. Just as long as they are watching a movie with their dad that is all that it takes to make them happy.

He is definitely someone who I can go to for anything and trust his advice 100%. Thanks dad for putting up with me all these years and I know I can count on you for anything!

Swimming Lessons
This week we had swim lessons for the kids. Whytli and Adelie were each in their own separate classes and it was Mallory's first year of lessons so we did a Mom & Me class. They all did really well and enjoyed going everyday. Their swim teacher is amazing and does a really good job at teaching them. They only go for 1 week and I am always amazed at what they learn in that week. They all really love the water and love to swim. Debbie their swim teacher takes their pictures of them under the water and gives them to us on the last day. They always are my favorite pictures so as soon as I scan them in I will post them.
Brett & his brother Colten did the class for us one day with the girls. They really loved having their dads do the class with them too.
Mallory was in her class with her cousin Gwyn and her mom Melissa. We had a good time with the kids!

Adelie didn't want to jump off the diving board for some reason but I made her anyway because she was doing it tons last year when we went swimming so it wasn't like it was something foreign to her. But I guess she just needed to get the hang of it again. She was happy she did it and wasn't afraid to do it again the rest of the days at lessons.
Adelie is a great swimmer. She has been doing lessons since she was 3 with Debbie (her teacher) and she can swim about 6-8 feet in the deep without anyone holding on. She loves the pool and practicing to swim.
